The Central Iowa Mineral Society meets the first Friday of each month at 7:30 (except July and August) in Meredith Hall, lecture room 101 on the Drake University campus.  All meetings are open to the public, including the Executive Committee Meeting that convenes prior to the general meeting. The agenda for the meeting may consist of lectures from experts in various fields, talks by other members about their adventures and finds, exchanges of rocks and fossils or lively debates about their finds. A potluck and social are usually planned for the December and June meetings. If weather permits, there will be field trips throughout the year. The club is active in the community by giving presentations, constructing displays, sponsoring activities and volunteering at various events.

Membership dues are $15 a year for a single person or $20 for a family. All ages and levels of knowledge are welcome but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Dues include a newsletter, voting privileges and access to field trips.
