Why join CIMS?

In the fall and spring, members plan field trips to a variety of places within the Midwest to provide exposure to many of the geological objects discussed during the course of the year. These trips give members access to places that the general public wouldn't be able to view, including quarries, mines and road cuts. In previous years, CIMS has visited the LeGrand Quarries, the creeks in southern Iowa on a geode hunt, the Rockford Brick and Tile Quarry and visited the gypsum mines in the Fort Dodge area.
